This has been a really fun project for us, Jason came to us with his idea and our job was simply to bring Punk to life. Punk is the awesome robot hero from Jason’s Dot.Robot books series, he is one cool robot! The second book is now out and is called ‘Atomic Swarm‘, kids are going mad for the books!

There are a lot of companies out there who like to lead people to believe that reaching the top of Google is a simple and easy process….it’s a lie. It is a long and drawn out process but one that is full of rewards and benefits once you have achieved it. We targeted the 2 most competitive phrases in our industry which are “Web Agency” and “Web Design London”. Both of them yield over 50 million matching pages results when searched for.

How much does it cost?

Organic SEO is not a cheap option when it is done properly. However, the increase in traffic and leads is unbelievable. Our business relies purely on word of mouth and lead generated through Google. We do no other outbound marketing, no adverts on the radio or in the press, yet we still have countless enquiries every single day. This is down to us being established and leads coming direct from organic search results from Google.

There are many techniques involved with organic SEO and I will not go into them all right now – that’s for another blog article. However, without doubt the most important ingredient is quality, relevant back links from third party sites.

Other important elements are a combination of good page titles, relevant text, compliant well structured code and online self promotion.

Thousands of companies will promise the earth and deliver nothing; your spam inbox is probably full of them!! The good companies out there don’t really shout about it much, they just do it. That’s what we wanted to do.

The Results?

We decided it was time to demonstrate what could be achieved with a well thought out strategy and a lot of hard work. We started our climb in January of last year, for the first 3 months not much happened and we didn’t climb up very high but the more we persevered, the higher we got. We had a few stumbles along the way, as others were noticing our presence and tried to fight us off but by the time June had come we where at the top. We had made it!

The objective is simply build up your strength, weapons and skill level; these 3 items are what make the game very addictive. At first the iPhone controls seems strange but after playing the Bots for a couple hours you really get comfortably with the controls, as they are in fact really intuitive.

Every now and again new game environments are uploaded (called maps) this is another cool element to this game; mastering each map helps you plan your strategies.

Power-ups
If you have never played let me be the first to inform you of all the power-ups you can use in your game play strategies.

Here is the official trailer video, I love the whole megacorp angle but I hate the stickmen. Of course this game won’t appeal to every type of person but this FP Shooter is the best iPhone game regardless of your preference of games.

Why Sony?
Well, I have always trusted Sony to deliver quality products at reasonable cost and they have always served me very well. I have never had any problems with any of my Sony equipment and I just had that extra bit of confidence in this product than I did with the Kindle.

First Thoughts
Amazing, amazing, amazing! I was so amazed that I threw away many of my books which were cluttering up my bookshelf at home (excluding my Lord of the rings collection of course). I got the Sony PRS 600 for Christmas and immediately flew to Finland for my holiday. I was there for 2 weeks and the battery survived the whole time on only it’s first initial charge. In this time I read 3 books which, totalled together, had over 1500 pages. Very impressive!

I also like the fact that I can makes notes on the books, this is very good especially for younger readers who may be reading books for their coursework or exams, allowing them to make extensive notes which are easily revised.

One added feature is the ability to draw pictures using your stylus. For me this came in handy when sitting in the airport when our flight was delayed and my 4 year old son needed something to do.

Pros and cons
Well let’s start with the good things.

Battery Life – The battery life is incredible, up to 7500 hours of reading per charge makes this an incredibly sufficient reader when making those long journeys.

Formats – Sony have allowed owners to be able to add books in various different formats including PDF, Word, TXT, RTF as well as the standard EPUB formats which allow you to download books from stores. Allowing the use of PDF and Word files is one of the reasons which clinched the deal for me. This means that I can convert a lot of my office work into PDF files and take it with me on the go, saving me precious time when on my way to meetings etc.

Readability – Overall, it is very easy to read a book on this. One of my main concerns when purchasing this was how it would feel in comparison to reading a book, I can say now that I definitely prefer handling a Sony reader than a book. No more having to hold the pages down, or dog ear the pages to remember where I was and I won’t even get into issues with Hardbacks!

No wireless – Many people disagree with me here, but I firmly believe that everybody has a right to their own opinion. To me, this is a reader for reading books. I don’t want to be distracted from it by being able to go online with this, I have my IPhone for that!

The bad things…
No Backlight – I think this would have been a good thing to have as an option. At present if you are in the dark, the only way you can read is by purchasing one of the covers which includes a light. Although I have purchased one and love it, it is very expensive and not all users will want to spend so much.

Power – One of the things that shocked me is that Sony only provide you with a USB cable to charge the reader with. I believe that they should have also supplied a power cable with this, but it can be purchased, again at an extra cost.

Cost – Expensive! Although for me I feel that it is worth the space that I have saved and will save in the future I think that unless the cost of these start going down, then they will not be as successful as they have the potential to be.

Accessories
Not a wide range of accessories are available yet but I believe that will change as more people start to use them. The two main categories of accessories come down to this, covers and power. For power you have an option of a car charger or a power cable. For covers there are a range of various covers and my favourite one is this one here but at a cost of anywhere between £35 and £50, it is a lot to ask after forking out for the reader itself. However , the reader does come with a slip cover included.

Conclusion
Overall I am very pleased with my Sony Reader, it is just what I wanted, it’s just a shame that I didn’t get around to buying it sooner. Even now that the IPad has launched, I am happy, the IPad is not a reader it just has a reader function and I feel that it is not quite enough for what I want. I would highly recommend this to any serious reader and also the first book that I read on it which was Eye of the World by Robert Jordan!

If I was to sum up this site, the logo, colours and illustrations just give the site a world class presentation.

First thing that excites me about the new book is the title, Atomic Swarm. Man how cool is this title, my brain just runs away with the possibilities of what that title suggests.

Second thing that blew me away is the cover, as we are the web agency who designed and developed www.doyouknowanysecrets.com (Hint: find the secret link), we got to see the cover early on.  Just look at this stunning cover, all credit to the illustrator over at Puffin Books

Kalam TV (www.kalam.tv) approached Internet Dreams to redesign their video portal from the ground up.

The site focuses on the Middle East market however a full English version will be launching soon; currently the site is in Farsi, Arabic and Urdu. For us London based designers it was good fun designing the site to work from both left to right and right to left.

The web site offers Kalam a fully content managed solution with multi lingual content control through a custom RTL/LTR language management module. A bespoke video, audio conversion and encoding solution featuring automatic FLV creation from multiple video formats including high definition saves Kalam over 1300% in third party processing fees each year.
